WHO WE ARE
We are two Anglophone expats (Nico is half French) living in Paris. We got tired of recommending the best of Paris to friends and family and so we decided to create a blog and publish our own shortlists. We were the first to recommend the best barbers, gyms, cigar lounges and other top places and we practice what we preach.
On top of this we realised that there were so many things visitors were missing out on since most guides are boring and generic, focusing on the same topics ad nauseam. So we started by first filling in the content gaps e.g. writing about topics like craft beer and then expanded to more categories we felt were relevant.
WHO THIS IS FOR
ANY HUMAN interested in having a good time in Paris. We originally created The Paris Shortlist to help men discover Paris since we realised there were few guides which covered topics that were relevant for men. The Paris Shortlist has since evolved and we are now writing broader content. Paris is a very inclusive city and while tastes and interests vary, we hope everyone will find our recommendations useful!
HOW WE DETERMINE OUR SHORTLISTS
While preferences can be subjective, we’re sure you will be happy with our recommendations since we only feature places which meet the following criteria:
1. Quality of offering (e.g. food or service)
2. Consistency
3. We benchmark against reviews from other reputable sources to ensure we aren’t biased
4. Tourist/expat friendly: – We realise many Parisians have different preferences hence we prioritise establishments that tailor to international standards as and where appropriate e.g. comfortable seating, larger rooms, air conditioning, etc.
5. Good value (as and where appropriate, cheaper is always better)
In fact you may notice that we sometimes have less than 10 recommendations. That’s because sometimes there aren’t enough places that meet our standards!
HOW OFTEN WE UPDATE OUR SHORTLISTS
We review and update our recommendations every month to ensure everything is as fresh and accurate as possible. Some categories change frequently while others change slowly over time.
On top of this we regularly visit and experience everything ourselves since we love hunting for the best of Paris!
