BEST CREPES IN PARIS
In search of the finest crepes in Paris? You’re in for a treat! The beauty of visiting Paris is that there is abundance of creperies offering delicious and filling food that is affordable and suitable for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even a snack.
You may already know, but you can have both sweet and savory crepes (sometimes called galettes) which are similar to pizzas in that you can enjoy them with all kinds of fillings. You can go all vegan or go for classic combos like eggs, cheese and ham.
The most common types of crepes you can find in Paris are:
-
Crêpe au Froment: This is the classic sweet crepe made with regular wheat (pancake) flour. They are basically thin pancakes which can be a tad chewy, and are often served with a variety of sweet toppings like Nutella, jam, warm chocolate, fresh fruits, whipped cream, or caramel sauce.
-
Crêpe au Sarrasin or Galettes: Galettes or savory crepes are made with buckwheat flour. It has a slightly nutty flavor and is typically filled with ingredients such as cheese, ham, eggs, mushrooms, spinach, or smoked salmon. They can be a tad crispy on the outside, especially when cooked with butter!
-
Flambeed Crêpes like the Crêpe Suzette: These are classic French dessert crepes which are basically Crepe au Froment and then flambéed with a liqueur and caramelized sugar. The most famous is the Crepe Suzette which is made with Grand Marnier liqueur, and you can also find these crepes served with a warm citrus sauce for added flavour.
There are so many creperies in Paris that it can be hard to decide where to go but we’ve narrowed down the list and handpicked where you can find the best crepes in Paris, offering a delightful variety of authentic galettes and crepes. Each establishment has its own unique charm and specialties. For instance, we love the chain Breizh Cafe because they are consistently good, offer comfortable seating, and there’s always one nearby.
And if you’re really really into crepes, then we recommend heading over to the Montparnasse area, home to a thriving Breton community and numerous creperies. There’s Ti Jos Breton pub where you can sip authentic Breton cider and Le Josselin, which feels like you have someone’s grandma cooking for you. These creperies we recommend are so good they even have followers from all over the world!
So here’s our shortlist of where you can enjoy the best crepes in Paris:
1) BREIZH CAFE
There are nine Breizh Cafes across Paris and all are modern yet warm and cosy, and even one (Montorgeuil has a cider tavern!). What puts Breizh cafe ahead of others is that they consistently churn out perfectly cooked galettes (savoury crepes) as well as sweet crepes that are all slightly modern twists of Breton classics. For example, they add a hint of ginger to their caramel sauce or use butter infused with seaweed sourced from Brittany to give their crepes an edge.
Also, unlike many other creperies which are always cramped and uncomfortable, Breizh cafes have plenty of seating and modern amenities. We advise going for at least one galette (savoury crepe made with buckwheat) and one sweet crepe (made with regular flour) for desert. Galettes cost around 12-20 euros depending on what you order and desert crepes are from 6-12 euros.

2) LE JOSSELIN
Located in the Little Brittany part of Montparnasse, Le Josselin is a charming, traditional creperie with wood paneled walls and amazingly indulgent crepes. This creperie has been around for decades and every crepe is made with indulgent ingredients, so you are guaranteed to enjoy. On top of that their portions are very generous so this is a great spot if you’re looking for a filling savoury crepe or two. The place itself is a wonderfully cozy spot to come in from the cold and warm up. Try a bowl of Breton hard cider served in a bowl (the old Breton way) to wash it all down! Note: Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

3) KRUGEN
Krugen is a modern creperie set in a bright and airy cafe. They are located in the east of Paris and serve all the classics as well as specialties imported from Brittany like their own Breton sausage, which is a tad smokey and very flavourful without being too fatty. They also offer a big selection of ingredients and unlike other creperies, allow you to cobble together your own masterpiece just like you would with a pizza, which is a plus. They also serve coffee so this is a great place for brunch. Above all don’t leave without trying their salted caramel sauce!

4) BROCELIANDE
There are two Creperie Broceliandes in Paris, one in Monmartre which is a tad small yet charming and another in east near Pere Lachaise cemetery. We love the one in Montmartre since it has become part of the Monmartre landscape and never disappoints. Perhaps their slightly crispy, savoury crepes go down well after a nice walk around Monmartre, or perhaps we love how they put butter on everything. It all just goes so nicely with a bowl of Breton cider (or a coffee for the sweet crepes).

5) TI JOS
Ti Jos is Breton creperie/pub hybrid which serves excellent crepes in a traditional Breton pub setting. Like Le Josselin, it’s located in the Montparnasse area and has been owned by the same family for decades. Crepes are made according to Breton recipes, and come out perfectly cooked – a tad crispy on the edges. They also have an excellent selection of Breton cider and beer so you should definitely come here if you’re up for sampling some cider or looking to enjoy some drinks after you finish your crepes!
Price: Affordable.
6) LITTLE BREIZH
This Breton creperie serves some of the yummiest crepes you will ever eat. It’s a rustic and simple restaurant which serves quality galettes and crepes. While their seating is a tad limited, their prices make up for the trouble. They offer great deals at very affordable prices, such as one savoury galette and one sweet crepe with a bowl of cider. They also have a number of sweet crepes which you can order for take away (a emporter).

7) CREPERIE DES PECHEURS
Walking into Creperie des Pecheurs feels like stepping into the underbelly of beautiful square rig boat, testament to their Breton seafaring roots. But make no bones about it, this place is 100% serious about galettes (savoury crepes) and crepes, and has been in business for decades. Besides their charming maritime decor, their food is excellent thanks to the attention to detail they put in as well as the quality of ingredients they use. As a result, their galettes and crepes have just the right texture and thickness with all the right flavours.
We recommend their Lorient galette with chopped Charolais steak, organic eggs, onions, and Emmental cheese. Prices are excellent as well as everything hovers around 10 euros. And be sure to try their “Salidou” crepe for dessert or a snack. It’s made with homemade salted caramel sauce that will have you licking your plate!

8) BRUTUS
Brutus Creperie in Paris is a delightful spot for crepe lovers who seek a more modern and fusion creperie experience, blending traditional French gallettes and crepes with a slight international twist e.g. yuzu. There are three in Paris and each offers inventive crepes using locally sourced ingredients. The highlight of Brutus Creperie is their exceptional value. With crepes priced around 10 -13 euros, they offer a range of savory galettes and sweet crepes that are both delicious and wallet-friendly. We love their Lucienne with smoked salmon gravlax, crème fraiche with aneth et yuzu, and home made houmous.

9) FRICOTIN
Located in the 17th not far from the Arc de Triomphe, Fricotin is a modern creperie serving “Parisian style” crepes rather than Breton style i.e. more fusion and non traditional. Their marinated salmon galette (crepe) is delicious and served with the salad on top. They have an excellent selection of ciders and local craft beer as well as wines plus other delicious yet healthy options including salads.

10) CREPERIE PEN TY
Creperie Pen Ty has been around since the 1970s. Located in Place de Clichy in the northwest, Pen Ty has a stoic approach to crepes. Clean, simple and ship shape. Their menu is very traditional and they use very specific, quality ingredients which is why their crepes continue to be among the best of Paris. Unfortunately, after COVID, they renovated and the venue has lost its Breton maritime charm, instead replaced with shabby-chic modernist decor.
